How do you fall gracefully?

How do you fall gracefully?

When it comes to cycling, there is always a shadow that cannot be avoided: falling! It can even be called the two horror stories of cycling together with losing the bike. But when you ride in the rivers and lakes, how can you not fall... We cannot deny that falling is also a part of cycling. So today we will talk about what tips can make us fall more gracefully and not so miserable.

1. Observe the environment

Observe the environment in real-time and be prepared for the surrounding road conditions, which can effectively avoid falling caused by environmental factors (such as potholes, gravel, etc.). When an accident occurs, environmental factors can also help reduce injuries, such as choosing to fall into the grass or mud, which can effectively buffer.

2. Bend the arm

Clavicle fractures are common in falls. Most of them are caused by touching the ground with the arms straightened when falling, and the impact force of body weight and inertia acts on the clavicle at the same time, which cannot buffer the force and cause fractures. Therefore, when you cannot avoid falling, you need to make good use of the human limbs to reduce injuries. Never use a fully straightened arm to support landing! The most common way is to support landing with a clenched fist and bent arms. Bending the arms can prevent wrist bone injuries to some extent; in the absence of support, other parts of the body fall to the ground first, and there is also the risk of coccyx injury and fracture.

3. Forward roll

When a car falls, it is best to release the handlebars first, so that the freed arms can help absorb the impact of the ground, and then hug the knees and roll forward. At this time, pay attention to protecting the head. Forward roll can play a certain role in avoiding the frontal impact of the vehicle and can effectively buffer, but it takes a little practice to avoid the direction of the vehicle.

If you have experience, when a car falls, you can do a forward roll in the direction of the body flying out to buffer, which can greatly reduce the impact!

4. Side roll

When a car falls, roll in the direction of the person's fall, bend the arms and shoulders when hitting the ground, and continue to roll, which can effectively reduce various abrasions and avoid secondary impacts with a certain probability. If the action is skilled, it can be helpful even when the car falls at a higher speed.

5. Jumping out of the car

If you fall from a car at a low speed, try to jump out of the car, so that your body has more room to move for self-protection. It is best to roll over to avoid the car falling. After all, if the falling car hits your face, the consequences can be said to be terrible. If you can't avoid the car in time, you can try to push the car away with force, and the reaction force will bounce your body back.

In short, the situation of falling from a car is different and cannot be generalized; therefore, some people say that the best protection is to have strong skeletal muscles, excellent flexibility, coordination, and reaction speed. With day-to-day training, your body's instinct will reduce the probability of injury when an accident occurs. However, avoiding falling from a car and doing a good job of safety protection is still the priority!
